Might be useful for interior sound stage shoot that need to match the exterior snow shots>>

The amount of fake snow in each package is measured by the gallons it will produce.
To better help you decide how many gallons of Snow in SecondsTM you need, use the equation;
Width x Length x Desired Depth= Volume/.134 (Cubic Feet in a Gallon).
This equals the amount of gallons you will need to cover your intended area.

A few stills from scenes that have elements similar to what we are hoping to use- pod, parachute...

Still looking for the right material for the parachute. We've looked at military chutes so far..also hardware, clips wire etc is a consideration. It should look real, but be a less identifiable so it's not a "hey, that's a military cargo chute" moment.

These guys used material that looks kinda rubberized from they way it moves in shot. We hope to find something more light so it moves a bit more.

Another prop we are working on...Making 2 of these...still need to add some parts and paint.

The control end of a remote manipulator armature (top image) will be moved by and actor shot on green screen. The other end with the grabber will be CG and is now completed (lower image).

I'm taking a few style guides from Start Trek XI to use on shots for VFX02.

Funny thing is this movie came out just after I had roughed out some ideas for the VFX02 ice planet and escpae pod iceworm creature etc...the coincidences are pretty scary, but sometimes I think that ideas are just ripe...all the combine ideas people informed in the same time and age sometimes produces very similar creative ideas.

Start Trek XI 's a very fine movie both from a storyline aspect and also visually, it's one of my new favourites!

I'll try to be as accurate as possible on what I'm borrowing and where it came from. There are some pretty blattant borrows on the escape pod. Primarily Halo ODST. Seems to me like JJ also liked the look of that pod, because again, I never saw the ST XI pod when the concepts for our VFX02 pod were being created but they all look pretty similar.

Of course the original inspiration for all of them...even if only subconcious... I'm sure was the old Star Wars escape pod.
